NASCAR reporter, Bob Pockrass, recently dropped an update on John Force's recovery from a crash during the NHRA Virginia Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park. Fans rallied behind the veteran drag racer stating what the 75-year-old Californian was going through was indeed hard to tackle at that age.

Two weeks after the gruesome crash, the drag racing sensation and 16-time NHRA champion has been shifted from neuro-intensive care to acute neuro care at a trauma hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

Besides a fractured sternum and an injured wrist, Force is suffering from a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). He was running 300 mph when he rammed straight into the concrete guard wall.

Reflecting on the same, Pockrass wrote,

"...doctors acknowledged his positive response to treatment. He was moved out of neuro-intensive care and into acute neuro care at the hospital where he was transported by air ambulance on June 23."

"The latest upgrade was welcomed by Force family members who have maintained a presence at the hospital since the 16-time NHRA Champion's arrival, but medical professionals emphasized once again that the journey ahead will be a long and difficult one," he added.

Here are a few other reactions to Bob Pockrass' update:

"That's sad. I work around those type of long-term care facilities," a fan said.
"Unfortunately I think that crash will be last time we see him in the car," said another.
"He’ll always be the GOAT of drag racing," commented a fan.

Although the wishes kept flooding in the comments section, there is still no information about how long it might take for Force to recover completely. He is reportedly showing "cognitive and behavioral symptoms" from his TBI, which, according to his doctors, will need time and patience to treat.

John Force is suffering from indefinite spans of confusion as an aftermath of the impact on his head. However, there are a few positive takeaways from Bob Pockrass' update as well.

Although Force is having difficulty dealing with his TBI, he was able to speak with his family, the medical staff, and John Force Racing president Robert Hight. With a little help from the staff, he has started taking short strides as well.

"The fact that the Hall of Fame driver can converse with medical staff, family members, and John Force Racing president Robert Hight, who flew in this week, is an encouraging sign," said Pockrass, in the previous post. "Also noteworthy was the fact that the 75-year-old grandfather of five has regained his equilibrium to the point that he has been able to start walking with the assistance of medical staff members."

Nevertheless, John Force will probably be moved to a long-term facility that specializes in treating Traumatic Brain Injuries. Unfortunately, when that will happen and for how long, has not been revealed yet.
