Trackhouse Racing owner Justin Marks has shared unique opportunities possibly in the works, including entries at the Rolex 24 and Indy 500. It is said to reflect the team’s vision to create exciting branding projects as evidenced by Kimi Raikkonen and Shane van Gisbergen driving for the team.
In the NASCAR Cup Series, Trackhouse Racing is among the newest teams along with 23XI and Kaulig Racing.
The team, co-owned by Justin Marks and rapper Pitbull, currently fields Daniel Suarez and Ross Chastain, with SVG joining as the new third driver next season.
During an episode of Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour, Marks believes the Rolex 24, a.k.a. the 24 Hours of Daytona, is the greatest race in the world. Thus, the team owner reckons an entry at IMSA’s one-day-long endurance race would boost its brand. Marks said:
“I would love to put a Trackhouse car in the Rolex 24. I think now that we’ve got sort of a group of athletes to be able to fill out a car, I think that’s a very real possibility". [1:14]
Another American enduro race eyed by the team is the Indy 500, with Justin Marks saying:
“It’s not been a secret that the Indianapolis 500 is a race that I think is important for the Trackhouse brand to be at. We’re working on that right now.”
However, Marks noted that they would find the right partner instead of buying a car to start an IndyCar team. The 43-year-old American racing driver and team owner concluded, saying:
“That’s how I think about growing the business and just exploring things that continue to be unique Trackhouse.”
The Rolex 24 is an annual 24-hour race on the IMSA calendar held at the Daytona International Speedway. Meanwhile, the Indy 500 is the longest race on the IndyCar calendar, which is held on the same day as NASCAR’s Cola-Cola 600.
Trackhouse Racing expands to three charters starting 2025
Shane van Gisbergen will be part of Trackhouse Racing next year after acquiring a charter from the outgoing Stewart-Haas Racing team. He will be driving the No. 88 Chevrolet Camaro, which Dale Earnhardt Jr. supported.
For the uninitiated, No. 88 was Earnhardt Jr.’s number with Hendrick Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup Series.
The Kiwi driver is joining the team with one Cup Series win recorded at the Chicago Street Race as a part-time driver last year. Next year will mark the 35-year-old former Australian Supercars champion’s first full-time season in the premier series.
Per Speedcafe, SVG shared his thoughts on his upcoming rookie season:
“I love racing. I've been loving NASCAR, enjoying it every week. I feel like I belong here and I feel like it's been an amazing career change or refresher. I guess it's a change. It feels like a completely different sport compared to what I was doing. I think it was a good time to come and do it.”
The three-car team is completed by Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez. The latter driver has qualified for the postseason after winning the Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta last February.
