Ross Chastain opened up on learning curve from Kyle Larson-Rick Hendrick incident in 2023
Ross Chastain discussed the significant incident with Kyle Larson at Darlington in 2023 during an episode of Dale Jr. Download. The crash involved both Chevrolet drivers, with Chastain acknowledging the impact it had on his development as a driver. He mentioned having to reach out to Rick Hendrick for his number to discuss the incident as he said:
"We definitely had a conversation. Yeah, I mean, crashed a couple of his cars, gonna reach out. I called him. I had to ask for his number. Was it as big of a deal after that? No, I don't think so. Justin Marks and I, we had to learn after that. I was used to it but I wasn't to that magnitude of the #5 car and Mr. Hendrick. So it was good. It was learning."
Chastain expressed that while the incident was a learning experience, he didn't view it as a monumental turning point in his career. Hendrick cautioned Ross Chastain that continuing with his aggressive style could lead to making many enemies on the track, which could hinder his chances of winning a championship.
