Trackhouse’s Ross Chastain “can’t wait” to team up with 4-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves 

Ross Chastain, the #1 car driver for Trackhouse Racing, took to X to reveal his excitement about teaming up with IndyCar icon Helio Castroneves.

Ross Chastain is a NASCAR driver known for his aggressive demeanor and bold moves on the track. Chastain is known for his daring maneuver at Martinsville Speedway in 2022, where he intentionally drove into the wall and rode it around to advance his position and qualify for the 2022 NASCAR CUP Series championship race. This move showcased his determination and willingness to take risks and thus made him a household name for NASCAR fans. His first race win came at the 2022 EchoPark Texas Grand Prix.

Helio Castroneves is a Brazilian racing driver renowned for his success in IndyCar. He is a four-time winner of the Indianapolis 500, joining an elite group of drivers with this prestigious achievement.

The Brazilian will be making his debut in NASCAR where he will be attempting to qualify for the prestigious Daytona 500. He will be driving the #91 for Trackhouse Racing along with his fellow teammate Ross Chastain. Chastain took to X to post a picture of him with his new teammate to show his excitement with the caption:

Daytona 500 is a 500-mile NASCAR Cup Series stock car race that is held every season at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. It has etched itself as one of the most prestigious events in motorsports.

Helio Castroneves' attempt and possible qualification will add to his motorsports driver credentials and mark another badge to his illustrious career. The Brazillian will be piloting the No. 91 car as part of Trackhouse’s innovative Project91 program, which aims to bring international racing stars into the NASCAR Cup Series.

The crash involved both Chevrolet drivers, with Chastain acknowledging the impact it had on his development as a driver. He mentioned having to reach out to Rick Hendrick for his number to discuss the incident as he said:

"We definitely had a conversation. Yeah, I mean, crashed a couple of his cars, gonna reach out. I called him. I had to ask for his number. Was it as big of a deal after that? No, I don't think so. Justin Marks and I, we had to learn after that. I was used to it but I wasn't to that magnitude of the #5 car and Mr. Hendrick. So it was good. It was learning."

Chastain expressed that while the incident was a learning experience, he didn't view it as a monumental turning point in his career. Hendrick cautioned Ross Chastain that continuing with his aggressive style could lead to making many enemies on the track, which could hinder his chances of winning a championship.
