NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson had claimed that he is a better driver than Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen. Now, his comment has garnered criticism from Dutch rally driver Tim Coronel.

After winning his sixth back-to-back Sprint Car race, Hendricks Motorsports racer Larson gave a controversial statement, claiming that he is a better all-around driver than Max Verstappen. Elaborating on the statement, the 32-year-old driver said that in his opinion, the Red Bull Racing driver would not be able to compete against him in a Sprint or Stock car around challenging events, such as a dirt race at Knoxville Raceway or a Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Now, Dakar Rally driver and Verstappen's compatriot Tim Coronel has ridiculed the Californian racer's claim. During an interview with RacingNews365, Coronel supported his fellow Dutchman and three-time Formula 1 world champion.

"If you (Larson) say that, then I don't think you know what's going on in the world besides that bubble he's in in America. If you think you're better than Max Verstappen, I'd actually really like to have a match between them, because you're going to lose. Max in those GT cars also goes bellowing, in the sim, with everything," Coronel said.
"Two practice sessions for Max and then Kyle is going to cry in a corner somewhere."

Coronel's statements were shared by an F1 and Verstappen fan page on X. Here's a look at the post, captioned:

Although Verstappen has not responded to Larson's comment as of now, fans of both motorsports series would likely be delighted to see the F1 and NASCAR legends go head-to-head.

"It’s completely different!" - F1 pundit Guenther Steiner shares his opinion on 'Kyle Larson vs Max Verstappen' debate

Former Haas team principal and F1 pundit Guenther Steiner has voiced his opinion on the ongoing 'Kyle Larson vs Max Verstappen' debate. Steiner, who has been a part of both motorsports series, highlighted the differences between F1 and NASCAR during an interview with GPblog.com.

"Every series has got its speciality. You cannot say because I'm fast in NASCAR, I will be fast in an F1 car. It’s completely different!" Steiner commented.
"I'm pretty sure Max Verstappen will not beat Kyle Larson in a sprint car. It's not going to happen. Will Kyle Larson beat Max in an F1 car? It's not going to happen," He further added.

Steiner elaborated on his statement by taking Juan Pablo Montoya as an example (Montoya has competed in both F1 and NASCAR).

"Montoya, who was one of the best drivers in Formula One. When he went to NASCAR, it wasn't so easy for him. Always because it is a speciality," the F1 pundit commented.

For reference, Kyle Larson and Max Verstappen are currently leading the NASCAR Cup Series and Formula 1 drivers' championship, respectively.
