Ty Gibbs will take over ownership of the No. 54 Xfinity team in 2025. The North Carolina-based outfit will have Truck Series driver Taylor Gray behind the wheel of the Toyota GR Supra for the upcoming season.
Gibbs will follow in the footsteps of Jeff Gordon, who used to be a driver-owner back in the day. Gordon currently co-owns the #24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy, which he drove from 1992 to 2015.
Gordon also owns an equity stake in the No. 48 team, previously driven by seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson. However, Gordon never drove the No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro throughout his career, which spanned over two decades. As of today, Alex Bowman drives the car full-time in the Cup Series.
Confirming the news of Ty Gibbs' JGR ownership, renowned journalist Joseph Srigley recently posted a screenshot of Gibbs' Instagram story, which said:
"First year as 54 owner
First year as 54 driver
Excited for @taylorgray17_"
Taylor Gray made his NASCAR debut in 2021 as the driver of the No. 17 TRICON Garage machine in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Before his move to the Truck Series, Gray won three races in the ARCA Menards Series. 2025 is going to be Gray's first full season in the Xfinity Series.
Ty Gibbs won his very first start in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Daytona International Speedway in 2021. The 22-year-old speedster amassed 11 wins in the series and won the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship before moving to the Cup Series full-time in 2023.

Ty Gibbs remains optimistic about his upcoming Las Vegas outing
Ty Gibbs will start his engine at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which is expected to host the Round of 8 opener. Gibbs will race alongside his Joe Gibbs Racing teammates, Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin.
The South Point 400 starts at 2:30 PM ET onwards on October 20th and will air live on NBC. Radio updates will be available on PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Fans can collect tickets to the grandstands now at lvms.com (the official website of Las Vegas Motor Speedway).
Although not a playoff driver anymore, Gibbs hopes to finish well in the 267-lap event. The native delivered a P5 finish in the spring race at the 1.5-mile, superspeedway despite a broken transmission. He was the only Joe Gibbs Racing driver inside the top-5 in that race.
"We had a good run in the spring at Las Vegas so hopefully our Monster Energy Toyota Camry will be good and we can have another good finish," Ty Gibbs said (via Speedway Digest). "I like Las Vegas and it's a cool track. Hopefully we'll have a good weekend."
Ty Gibbs is currently in his second full-time season in the Cup Series. He amassed 12 top-10s and eight top-fives, placing him 11th in the Cup Series standings with 2150 points to his name. Furthermore, Gibbs led a combined 394 laps this season, which is also his personal best.
