Tyler Reddick paid tribute to Scott Bloomquist, the legendary dirt track racer who passed away recently, following his win in the FireKeepers Casino 400 race at Michigan International Speedway. Reddick talked about how Bloomquist meant a lot to him post-race.
Reddick held off William Byron till the very end to clinch his second victory of the 2024 regular season in Michigan. The 23XI Racing driver passed Kyle Busch on Lap 175 and was in control of the race since. Like Richmond, the Michigan race also went to overtime, but Reddick kept his lead.
Following his race win, Reddick dedicated his victory to Bloomquist.
"I can't help but sit here in victory lane and think of Scott Bloomquist man," Tyler Reddick said in an interview with NASCAR on NBC. "Huge mentor to me and incredible role model and legend of dirt racing and motorsports. So, last couple of days have been tough and this really helps him. So this win should go for him and his family, his friends and all that means a lot to him."
As per reports, Bloomquist died on Friday morning when the racing driver's small aircraft crashed into a barn on his property in Mooresburg, Tennessee. The crash was fatal and he was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene.
Chase Briscoe paid tribute to Bloomquist on Friday
Chase Briscoe paid tribute to the legendary dirt racer on Friday. The death of the late motorsport legend shook the entire sporting fraternity, including Briscoe, who shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter):
"I grew up a sprint car kid, but growing up I always knew who drove the green and black zero late model. Bloomer was one of a kind and the greatest of all time in a late model."
Scott Bloomquist was one of the most successful dirt track racers ever. He had 94 Lucas Oil Late Model and 33 World of Outlaws Late Model victories under his belt in his illustrious career.
