Tyler Reddick recently received a special bonus from his boss, Denny Hamlin, during a visit to the latter's podcast studio. While recording, Hamlin asked his co-host, Jared Allen, if they had any tumblers to give the #45 driver as a gift. However, at Reddick’s request, Hamlin let his 23XI Racing driver pick out a pair of shoes from his closet for himself.
Reddick has already secured a spot in the playoffs with his win at the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway in April. That victory was celebrated on pit road by Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan. During Reddick’s visit to Hamlin’s podcast studio, Hamlin offered him a "win bonus," marking another celebratory moment for the driver.
Tyler Reddick recently shared a clip on his official Instagram account where Denny Hamlin gifted him a pair of shoes, captioning it:
"Thanks for the 'win' bonus @dennyhamlin. "
Initially, Hamlin had planned to give Tyler Reddick a tumbler, but the #45 driver had a different idea. He asked Hamlin:
"Can I go in the closet and just pick out a pair I like?"
To which Hamlin responded:
"Absolutely."
During this exchange, Hamlin’s co-host revealed the extent of Hamlin's shoe collection, saying:
"There's about a 100 in the closet and then 450 more down here in boxes."
Following this, Reddick was seen diving into the closet, browsing through the shoes, and ultimately choosing a baby-pink pair.
"It’s very disappointing" - Tyler Reddick on Nashville result
Tyler Reddick crossed the finish line in third place in the Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway. He was just one strong lap short of claiming victory in Sunday’s Cup Series race.
In the final lap of a quintuple overtime finish in Lebanon, Tennessee, Tyler Reddick was unable to pass Joey Logano, the race winner. A late maneuver by Logano forced Reddick back to third, while Zane Smith from Spire Motorsports finished in the second spot.
Reflecting on the race during his post-race interview, Reddick expressed his frustration, saying (via NASCAR):
"It’s very disappointing. I’m trying my best [to deal with the disappointment] but it’s tough. I’m trying to keep it cool at the moment. I’m really upset about how it ended. [...] All the good cars ran out of fuel and we were in a position to pass [Joey Logano], hadn’t been good all day."
Tyler Reddick shared more details about the race during his appearance on the Actions Detrimental podcast, particularly discussing the crucial moments towards the end. He said:
“I don’t know if we just missed the adjustment a little bit, didn’t adjust enough, but from that point on to when the race ended there we were just too tight. Couldn’t make moves, couldn’t go anywhere, so that was frustrating for sure.” [at 3:22]
The #45's season has been noteworthy despite some challenges. While there have been instances, like in Las Vegas, where he had a faster car but didn't clinch the win, he has consistently put in strong performances. With seven top-5 finishes and five top-10s so far, he has climbed to fourth place [P4] in the drivers' standings.
