23XI Racing driver Tyler Reddick emerged victorious in the 2024 GEICO 500 race at Talladega Superspeedway.
Ford looked to be on the brink of snapping its winless streak with pole-sitter Michael McDowell cruising to a victory. However, Tyler Reddick stole the lead in the final stages of the race, clinching his first victory of the season at the 2.660-mile surface.
Earlier in the night, Austin Cindric of Team Penske beat Texas race winner Chase Elliott by the brink of a margin to win Stage 1. Meanwhile, his teammate Joey Logano clinched Stage 2.
Reddick, driver of the No. 45 Toyota fended off RFK Racing driver and co-owner Brad Keselowski, with the latter securing back-to-back runner-up finishes in Texas and Talladega. McDowell, who seemed primed for victory in the final stages, made contact with Keselowski in the last lap, setting up a multi-car crash.
Including McDowell, the final-lap crash saw several frontrunners wreck, including Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Busch, and Ross Chastain caught up in the mayhem.
Multiple Toyota drivers also found themselves in a precarious position, with Erik Jones, Bubba Wallace, Denny Hamlin, and John Hunter Nemechek colliding in Turn 3 which cut short their race prematurely.
