Kyle Petty is a renowned name in the NASCAR fraternity. Thanks to his grandfather, Lee Petty, father, Richard Petty, and Petty Enterprises, the Petty name has been extremely popular in the stock car racing scene. Furthermore, Adam Petty, who tragically passed away in May 2000, was also a part of the Petty Family.

Lee Petty, the late Cup Series driver raked in 427 races during his time and claimed 54 wins. His son and Kyle Petty's father, Richard Petty, is the most successful driver in the sport's history. He participated in 1184 Cup Series races and won a record 200 races in 35 years of racing.

However, 53 years later, the governing body put an end to the controversy on October 23, 2024. Jim France, NASCAR CEO and Chairman, and Mike Helton, Vice Chairman, paid a visit to the former driver to inform him about the recognition.

Once the announcement was out, Kyle Petty congratulated NASCAR and Allison via a post on his official X account.

Sharing NASCAR's official post on X, Petty wrote,

"Heck YEAH!!!!!! @NASCAR GREAT job!"

Interestingly, Petty's father, Richard Petty, competed against Bobby Allison in the 1971 race and finished in the runners-up position. Thanks to the recognition, Allison has officially become the driver with the fourth-highest (85) Cup Series victories.
