NASCAR Cup Series stars Denny Hamlin and Bubba Wallace took the Logitech Blindfold Challenge ahead of the Grant Park 165 race in Chicago on Sunday, July 7. Both drivers attempted to complete a lap on the Chicago Steet Circuit.

While Hamlin is third in the 2024 Cup Series driver's championship, Wallace is 15th. In 19 races, Hamlin (621 points) has emerged victories thrice and has seven top-5s, eight top-10s and two DNFs in two, while Wallace (448 points) has three-top 10s, six top-5s and three DNFs.

Ahead of the Chicago street race, the #11 and #23 drivers took the unique 'Blindfold Challenge' created by the technology giant Logitech. As the name suggests, both drivers attempted a lap on the street track on a simulator with blindfolds, with the other as a guide through the lap.

With their eyes shut Hamlin and Wallace crashed several times on their way to the finish line, having a ball while doing so. Here's a look at the video posted by Denny Hamlin on Instagram, captioning it:

"We sim raced Chicago… blindfolded 🙈🎮"

For reference, apart from sharing a driver-owner relationship, Joe Gibbs Racing's Hamlin and the Alabama-based Wallace are known for their friendship off the track and have been seen together on several occasions.

Controversial run-ins between Denny Hamlin and Bubba Wallace in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series

While everything seems amicable outside of racing, Denny Hamlin and Bubba Wallace have had a few tense moments on the racetrack in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series. Here's a look at the two major incidents that sparked controversy this year.

The first came during the AdventHealth 400 race at the Kansas Speedway on May 5. With 84 laps remaining, Wallace got involved in a multi-car race with Austin Cindric and Michael McDowell.

The incident saw the 23XI Racing driver finish 17th. The crash was partly blamed on Denny Hamlin’s strategy. After winning the Stage 1, Hamlin made crucial adjustments to his #11 Toyota Camry. That, in turn, affected the pace of the race, eventually leading into the multi-car wreck as Hamlin finished fifth.

The second incident was during the Ally 400 race at the Nashville Superspeedway on June 30,. The Lap 123 incident saw Joey Logano spurt some angry remarks on the team radio.

However, amidst the tension between Hamlin and Logano, Bubba Wallace bumped Hamlin's car twice during the caution period. This unusual move between the two raised eyebrows among fans and onlookers.

With no comments from either Hamlin or Wallace, speculation about unrest between the driver-owner duo is rife.
