Former NASCAR driver Jeff Burton was unhappy with Corey LaJoie and his team about what they said of Kyle Busch following a late-race wreck. The wreck, which happened with 40 laps to go in the 160-lap event at Pocono Raceway, sidelined the Richard Childress Racing driver, resulting in his fifth DNF in the last seven races.

It appeared LaJoie had initiated the Stage 3 mayhem that took out Busch and others like AJ Allmendinger, Harrison Burton, Ryan Preece, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. However, according to Toby Christie, LaJoie radioed to his team that Busch had hooked himself while trying to block LaJoie, to which his team replied:

"F**k him, we ain't worried about him. We're worried about ourselves."

Even LaJoie's crew chief Ryan Sparks was reportedly heard saying that Busch got what he deserved. Needless to say, nobody in the #7 Chevy team was apologetic about causing the big wreck coming off of turn 1.

Reflecting on the same, Burton, who is currently a commentator for NASCAR on NBC, said (as reported by NASCAR writer Kyle Dalton):

"To be honest with you, not only Kyle Busch but all the other guys that got in the wreck, I am really unhappy with that because, yes, right there this big block...that's a big block. That's an aggressive block but this...he got hooked there and if LaJoie thinks he deserved that, then LaJoie has a prerogative to do it."

Kyle Busch had entered the 400-miler 98 points behind the provisional playoff cutline. Unfortunately, getting sidelined from Sunday's (July 14) NASCAR Cup Series race and finishing 32nd relegated him 102 points behind the elimination line, seriously lowering his chances of making this year's playoffs.

Busch needs to win a race to clinch a playoff berth and there aren't a lot of races left in the regular season. The two-time Cup Series champion will next compete in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, July 21.

"I do feel bad for Kyle" - Corey LaJoie opens up on wrecking Kyle Busch

In a recent episode of Stacking Pennies, Corey LaJoie revealed the circumstances that led to him spinning Kyle Busch out of the track. LaJoie, who had earlier received a pit road speeding penalty on lap 96, insisted he did not expect Busch's Camaro to lose momentum as they were quite deep in the traffic.

"You hear how hard he was on the chip there. When you're that deep in traffic, you're in between grabbing fourth and fifth gear," explained LaJoie. "I was trying to kind of blend back behind him, but at the same time, I was committed to fill and get behind him. I did not anticipate his car losing that momentum relative to mine."

Interestingly, Corey LaJoie also claimed he had spun Busch out and not Busch hooking himself.

"I do feel bad for Kyle. I don't wanna end his day. I don't wanna wreck anybody's day...I spun him out, took out several good cars behind me, which I do feel bad about on Monday," the 32-year-old Charlotte native added.

Corey LaJoie finished 19th in the race. With five races remaining in the regular season, the Spire Motorsports driver is 30th in the Cup Series standings with 301 points.

Furthermore, he is not in the playoff picture yet. His best finish this season was a P4 finish at Daytona.
