Keelan Harvick, the son of NASCAR Cup Series legend Kevin Harvick, spent a day at the zMAX Dragway with his parents and younger sister. The budding racer got an opportunity to experience the view from the former NASCAR champion Tony Stewart's NHRA Top Fuel race car's cockpit.

Much like his father and the 2014 Cup Series champion, Keelan entered the world of racing at a tender age. Under the tutelage of Kevin, the 12-year-old driver from North Carolina has managed to win multiple races in the Mini and Micro Legends car categories over the years. The youngster claims he often takes racing advice from his father, who has 60 race wins to his name in NASCAR.

During a recent trip to the NHRA Top Fuel racing event at the zMAX Dragway, the Harvick family paid a visit to the garage of 3x NASCAR and 1x INDYCAR Champion Tony Stewart. Being close friends (Kevin Harvick and Stewart), the latter offered Keelan a peak at his Top Fuel race car's cockpit. In a video shared on X, Stewart can be seen explaining the controls to the upcoming racer.

Here's a look at the post re-shared on Keelan's X page, captioned:

Had a blast!

Apart from Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick has also shared a few pictures of his family from the iconic four-lane drag strip on X. Take a look at the post:

As for the race, Stewart faced an early exit in the first round against the reigning Top Fuel World Champion Doug Kalitta. His Mahindra Tractors TSR Dodge//SRT Dragster was unable to keep up against the challenger after the halfway mark.

“This just wasn’t our weekend. We qualified 14th, and the car didn’t make it down the track during the money run on Friday night. We had a very uncommon error, but we addressed it,” he said during the post-race media interaction.

“We were just so close” - Keelan Harvick felt disappointed after losing his first Summer Shootout championship

Keelan Harvick, NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick's son, competed in his first-ever Summer Shootout championship at the iconic Charlotte Motor Speedway this season. Finishing the final race in third place, the driver of the #62 Legends car missed out on winning the championship by a small margin.

Speaking to FloRacing after the race, Keelan shared his disappointment of the final race.

"This sucks. We were good all day, we qualified at the pole. But missed out on a trophy…but that’s the Summer Shootout....I'm a little disappointed in myself, but I maximized what we got. We were just so close," he said.

Despite the setback, the 12-year-old racer said he is motivated to return next year to clinch the title.
