Richard Childress, the owner of NASCAR team Richard Childress Racing, has recently introduced Donald Trump at the Make America Great Again rally in Charlotte, North Carolina. The NASCAR legend, in his speech, called the former American president one of the 'most bravest' and 'most courageous' men he has met in his life.
The rally at Charlotte was Trump's first public campaign since President Joe Biden dropped out of the Presidential run recently. He is set to contest against Vice President Kamala Harris in November this year.

Childress said:
"At this time, I'd like to introduce my friend, and a friend of every one of you in here tonight," Childress said, addressing the crowd." He loves you, he loves all of you. He is one of the bravest, most courageous men I've ever met in my life. On November the 7th, we all have to get out and vote and vote for my friend President Donald Trump." (1:45-2:15)
Trump's connection with the American racing world is quite strong, and RCR's owner, Richard Childress' introduction, said it all. Besides this, he is also connected to Roger Penske, a former NASCAR driver and the chairperson of the Penske Corporation (and Team Penske).
"I've a lot of friends in that (racing) world. I don't know I think is it Roger Penske like a great guy too, he won 20 Indianapolis 500," Trump said in his Charlotte speech. "This guy (Richard Childress) wins all the time. I mean we appreciate talent." (0:10-0:20)
Interestingly, Donald Trump, in his speech, also stated that he wouldn't rule out the idea of replacing military generals with NASCAR drivers. Trump made global headlines after an attempt to assassinate him was carried out in western Pennsylvania. He left the venue with a bloody ear and escaped the assassination by a whisker.
Is Richard Childress Racing living up to its potential lately?
Donald Trump, in his Charlotte speech, stated that Richard Childress (RCR Racing) wins all the time. However, it's far from the truth in the current scenario, as none of the RCR drivers are in a good run of form.
Kyle Busch, the most renowned RCR driver in the line-up, is winless for 42 races now. The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion is also out of a potential entry to the playoffs as he stands 112 points behind the cutoff line.
Besides Busch, Austin Dillon, and part-timers Austin Hill, Will Brown, and Ty Dillon are also out of the playoffs race and having an average 2024 season.
While they have recent successes in the Truck Series (Drivers' Championship in 2011) and Xfinity Series (Drivers' Championship in 2019), their Cup Series campaign has been running dry since 1994, the year they won their last Drivers' Championship.
