Kyle Busch's wife Samantha has shared a social media post, depicting the couple with their kids Brexton and Lennix for a family photography session. After another disappointing Cup Series weekend, the Richard Childress Racing driver savored his off-track blues with his family.
While Ryan Blaney revisited Pocono Raceway's victory lane seven years after his maiden Cup win on the same asphalt in 2017, Kyle Busch's #8 Chevy encountered its fifth DNF this season. After a streak of three consecutive DNFs at Iowa Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, and Nashville Superspeedway slashed the RCR driver's chances of punching a ticket to the playoffs, his stint in the Chicago Street Race ended positively with a ninth-place finish.
However, misery returned to Busch after his double block against Corey LaJoie wrecked his #8 Chevy out of the race. With that, the two-time Cup Series champion is under acute pressure to make the playoffs, considering only five regular season races are left before the Round of 16 charts begin.
Ahead of the Brickyard 400's practice run, slated for Friday, July 19, Kyle Busch, Samantha, Brexton, and Lennix Key went for a family photoshoot. The father of two wore a semi-formal attire complemented by an overcoat, while the mother donned a glittery pink dress. Brexton fairly matched his father's outfit but with a casual touch, while Lennix wore a pink dress with dark pink stones embedded in it.
Samantha shared the video including their family's "precious moments" (via Instagram).
Samantha Busch was enraged after Kyle Busch succumbed to a third consecutive DNF at Nashville Superspeedway
The Nashville race was reduced to immense fuel saving, as the scheduled 300-lap dash went into five overtimes, extending the debacle by 31 laps. Joey Logano mastered fuel efficiency in his #22 Ford Mustang to snap his 49-race winless streak.
Meanwhile, Kyle Busch, who was fresh off two consecutive DNFs eyed a promising result in the Music City and was quite close to attaining that. Despite starting from 27th place, the #8 Chevy driver resurrected his momentum and ran among the frontrunners during the extended laps. However, on the third restart, the fateful incident ensued for Busch, courtesy of the Hendrick Motorsports duo- Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott.
Larson's #5 Chevy's throttle didn't respond to his command but Elliott's $9 Chevy did. Meanwhile, Kyle Busch was between the HMS drivers and tried to move around the #5 Chevy as Larson tried to go for the high line to let the pack behind him continue their run.
But to no avail. Elliott clipped Busch's #8 car from behind and the latter careened into the outside barrier. Thus, the two-time Cup champion couldn't help but see another opportunity of a promising outcome slipping from his grasp, resulting in a third DNF.
Fumed by her husband's another miserable weekend, Samantha Busch shared her frustration on X, writing:
"I can’t with this year. 😡"
Kyle Busch will be next seen at the Brickyard 400, where he is the winningest active driver with two victories (in 2015 and 2016).
