NASCAR fans witnessed one of the most iconic moments in history when Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney went nose to nose in a burnout at the Las Vegas Strip in 2018. NASCAR on NBC recently recalled the iconic moment in history before the opener race of the round of eight at Las Vegas, Motor Speedway.
The event was held on November 29, 2018, after the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series came to an end. The event was held in one of the most well-known luxury hotels, Wynn, situated at 3131 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89109, United States.
To celebrate the end of a perfect season, both Hendrick Motorsports Chase Elliott and Team Penske driver Ryan Blaney did a celebratory burnout in front of the hotel, giving fans the show of their lives. NASCAR jokingly captioned the post:
"Who won this burnout battle on the Las Vegas Strip in 2018?"
Watch:
The event was held before the introduction of NextGen cars in NASCAR, and the cars were from Generation Six. The cars provided a much better resemblance to the stock cars from the showrooms and cars used in the early days of racing but with advanced safety features and aerodynamic design.
Both cars stayed where they were at the start of the burnout, and the duo enjoyed smoking out the tires on a public road. Team Penske #22 driver Joey Logano won the 2018 Monster Energy Cup Series championship and enjoyed the red carpet event at the hotel.
