As the USA Network videographers panned their cameras around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for filler shots during Saturday's NASCAR Xfinity Series Pennzoil 250, William Byron was spotted taking a carefree jog around the facility. While the drivers were 34 laps in the race back then, it was cardio time for the Cup Series regular.

William Byron currently drives the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Hendrick Motorsports. His first victory came at Daytona in August 2020. Since then, the Charlotte native has amassed 13 victories, with the latest one coming in April 2024 at the Martinsville Speedway. Besides being the 2017 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion, Byron also has seven wins in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

The 26-year-old is currently in Indiana for the Brickyard 400. Recently, a video of Byron jogging on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was shared.

According to HendrickMotorsports.com, Byron entered this weekend with an average starting position of 9.67. His car was the fourth-fastest in practice. Therefore, Byron will start alongside his teammate and 2020 Cup Series champion, Chase Elliott, in the second row.

William Byron is already locked in the 2024 playoffs. He currently sits 5th in the NASCAR Cup Series standings with 646 points to his name. The 26-year-old has led a combined 236 laps from 21 races so far in the regular season, amassing seven top 5s and 12 top 10s.

William Byron reveals his plan of action days before the Brickyard 400 at IMS

William Byron has had three starts at the 2.5-mile racetrack, with a fourth-place finish in 2019 being his best run so far. Now that he has secured a playoff berth, the 26-year-old driver primarily aims at earning points and moving up the leaderboard as much as he can before the regular season finale. Needless to say, the plan remains the same for this year's Brickyard 400 as well.

Speaking of the times when he had given up points, Byron told Frontstretch (4:20),

"We've had some races where we've kinda given away points. Last week we didn't have a great car but we executed really well and we got the third most points. I think we'll start to put those together and the days you have a good car, you can compete for the win."

However, he opined that his team is over their rough patches (3:02)

"I think we've got a lot of our bad performances out of the way...so I think we're hitting our stride. Last week was a great points day I think we're still within reach to get to probably second or third" Byron added.

With that said, there are things that Byron wants to do better, starting with packing more speed in his car and making adjustments to optimize its performance on race days. Speaking of which, Byron said (4:06):

"We'd like to have a little more speed, we'd like to perfect a few things here and there on the car but feel like every week we're right there in the mix. Just trying to make sure we're doing everything that we can."
