As NASCAR returned to the 12-turn, 2.2-mile road course in Chicago for the second consecutive year, 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace launched his second annual Block Party, better known as Bubba's Block Party, to jump-start the festive mood of the NASCAR fans in and around the city. Last year, the gala event was held in Richmond.

Bubba Wallace's Block Party aims to educate the fans about the African-American contribution to the sport. The people of Chicago got to know more about NASCAR in the form of interactive sessions with the 23XI pit crew members; thanks to Bubba Wallace. Besides that, the party also brings together several small businesses and local organizations to cater to about four to five thousand guests of the community-based event.

This year, the event was held on July 5 at Douglass Park in Chicago, Illinois from 5 pm to 9 pm. Bubba Wallace was elated at how successful the party turned out to be. Reflecting on the same, the Toyota pilot posted on his X account,

"Bubba’s block party was a success! So humbled to play a role in welcoming new faces to this sport with events like these. We've come a long way and we ain't stopping ✌🏾"

Chicago's pop sensation 'Twista', and former Chicago Bears defensive tackle, Anthony 'Spice' Adams were featured as special guests at Bubba's Block Party.

"Chicago always has a special place in my heart," Adams exclaimed (via FOX 32 Chicago). "They (Chicago Bears) took me in in 2007 and I haven’t looked back! I think the pit crew is the same as getting in a huddle and running a play, running a play to perfection."

With the festivities over, Wallace now prepares for the 20th race of the Cup Series season; the Grant Park 165. As of today, he sits 15th in the Cup standings with 448 points to his name.

"I carry a responsibility"- Bubba Wallace reveals why the Bubba's Block Party is important to him

Bubba Wallace is the only Black driver among the current Cup Series regulars, and also the only representative of the Afro-American community in the sport. Therefore, Wallace feels that bearing the flag of his people in the sport is his responsibility. He said (via Fox32 Chicago):

"For me, I feel like I carry a responsibility. I am different looking than my competitors. Representation matters. That’s been a hot topic over the last several years now. You’re just able to see a lot of different things and a lot of the same and the likeness that maybe you wouldn’t see yourself in."

Wallace became the second Black driver to win a Cup Series race owing to his Talladega win back in 2021. His Truck Series victory in 2013 made him the first African-American driver to win a NASCAR race since Hall of Famer, Wendell Scott.
