"We just want to win for us, would be great for Ford too": Brad Keselowski prioritizes team success while acknowledging the bigger picture

Brad Keselowski recently touched on the subject of him potentially ending his winless streak at Dover. The RFK Racing driver, who hasn't won a race in nearly three years in the NASCAR Cup Series, was asked whether after his successive runner-up finishes in the last two races and Ford's struggles this year, what would it mean for him to win in the upcoming race.

Keselowski claimed that while he'd be thrilled to win for the American manufacturer, he wants to win more for himself.

"We just want to win for us, would be great for Ford too but we're plenty motivated for our own selfish reasons to want to win and get locked in the playoffs and we've knocked down on that door for the last few weeks and haven't been able to punch through. But it certainly would be a good moment for us," he described, via Frontstretch on YouTube (00:57).

The #6 driver pointed to what lies ahead in front of him as a driver amid where he currently stands.

"We've got a lot of challenges in front of us. We need to continue to show the execution we've shown and then some more speed to go with it. So a lot of work to do," Keselowski added.

When the reporter asked Keselowski about his opinion regarding the weather playing a role in the race at Dover, the 2012 Cup champ claimed the weather could "dramatically affect the racing" as it usually does at Dover.

Brad Keselowski isn't one who focuses on the result

A few weeks ago, Brad Keselowski opened up on his thoughts regarding his winless streak. Keselowski's last race win came at Talladega in 2021 with Team Penske.

Since then, the 40-year-old Michigan native has come close to winning a few times, more recently in the last two races with a couple of second-place finishes at Martinsville and Talladega. Along with that, he's also had two more finishes inside the top 5 this year.

But regardless of the result, Keselowski isn't someone who focuses on the outcome.

"I just focus on the process, not the outcome. I’m focused on doing all the right things, trying to help everybody I can and obviously execute on my end, and when I’m not driving the race car, being a servant leader to help everybody else build the best they can. Then you kind of let the results speak for themselves," he said earlier this month, as per NASCAR.

Keselowski emphasized that he's "really process-focused" and with that mindset, he doesn't get too high or too low. He has a total of 35 Cup Series wins to his name and notably won his first and only drivers' championship to date in 2012, when he was with Team Penske.
