RFK Racing owner Brad Keselowski has opined NASCAR teams should shut down for a couple of weeks and in the meantime, reload for the second half of the season. In a recent episode of Kevin Harvick's Happy Hour podcast, the 2012 Cup Series champion went candid on the importance of breaks.

NBC took over the coverage of NASCAR's races after the Toyota Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway. However, the company is also expected to broadcast the 2024 Summer Olympic Games which will take place in Paris between 26 July and 11 August.

This would mean that the NASCAR Cup Series season would need an extra week to wrap up and therefore, the season finale at Phoenix Raceway will be on November 10. Nevertheless, Brad Keselowski thinks that it is a good thing.

"We need to do an industry shutdown because we have the two-week Olympic break, which I think is great. Perfect," Keselowski exclaimed. "Let the Olympics have their heyday. Everybody loves the Olympics. It's great for our sport to get a break and to not compete against the Olympics. Everybody wins."

Brad Keselowski urged the teams to just take some time off of their busy schedules and relax. The 40-year-old opined that a few weeks' worth of break would help everyone return stronger for the remainder of the season

"Just lock our doors for a week or two, all the employees go home, go on vacation, go spend some time with your kids, refresh and kind of reload for what is the final half of the season," he added.

Brad Keselowski revealed how mid-season breaks could help the sport

Brad Keselowski opined that it was important for everyone behind the garage area to not get burned out from NASCAR's hectic year-long schedule. The 40-year-old said that every crew member was an ambassador of the sport and therefore, each of their actions catered irectly to the sentiment of the fans.

"Our sport really relies on this ambassador-type relationship, whether be with our fans or whether be with the junior level," Keselowski explained in the previous interview."We need the whole garage area to be in a good mindset and to not be burned out."
"It's one of those things where all the team owners have to do it. Like, it can't just be like half of them or it doesn't work. It's really hard to get all the team owners into that kind of state of mind," Keselowski added.

Meanwhile, NASCAR prepares to host the 18th race of its season; the USA Today 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on June 23. Brad Keselowski will enter the race 9th on points, and will look to bag his second win of the season. His most recent win was at the Darlington Raceway on May 12.
