After a slow start for the season, Joey Logano and the #22 Team Penske squad began recovering from the slump mid-season. The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion spoke about the same during a recent episode of Behind the Wheel podcast.

Logano has experienced a mixed bag of results during the 2024 season. The Middletown-based racer managed to finish two of the first four point-winning races (Duel 1 at Daytona and Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas) in the Top 10s. However, as the season progressed Logano's results began improving. With two wins at Nashville and Atlanta, the 34-year-old driver secured his Playoff berth for the year. As of now, Logano has 11 Top 10s, five Top 5s, and three pole positions to his name, along with the mid-season All-Star Race wins.

Ahead of the South Point 400 race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the former NASCAR champion spoke about the team's steady progress in the Behind the Wheel podcast.

"How many times you see it in sports where teams that have an incredible regular season have one bad game and they're out, right? They have one mistake or other teams get better towards the end of the year. And boom, like, geez, they were awful in the beginning of the year, but they figured it out and now they have a shot at winning the championship," Logano said. (1:21 onwards)
"That's the cards we got, right? That's, that is the way the game is played. And you know, so far we're, we're getting a lot better than where we were in the beginning of the year," he added. (1:40 onwards)

A video clip of the aforementioned interaction was shared on X by SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Here's a look at the post, captioned:

"🏁 "In a way, I feel like we have nothing to lose." After making his way into the Round of 8 via the No. 48 DQ, @joeylogano feels "pretty confident" in the speed his @Team_Penske No. 22 team is bringing to the track every week."

“Every point matters throughout the whole season" - Joey Logano explains why every point matters after a surprise entry in Playoff's Round of 8

Joey Logano made a surprise comeback in the 2024 Playoffs after Alex Bowman was disqualified for his #48 race car being underweight in the post-race inspection. The Team Penske driver pointed out on why every single point in the season matters in such situations.

Logano spoke about the same during a media interaction after the ROVAL 400 race.

"Every point matters throughout the whole season. I’m not discounting that, but you have to be your absolute best at this point in the season or else those points don’t even matter, so I feel confident in our team that we’ve got that. We’re still alive. We’re still going and that’s the name of the game in these playoffs," he said.

As of now, the 34-year-old is placed eighth in the driver's table. He is 11 points below the cutoff mark for the season finale at Phoenix in December.
