Alex Bowman’s dirt midget race team, Alex Bowman Racing (ABR), will back four drivers for this year’s Chili Bowl Nationals. Recently, the Hendrick Motorsports driver opened up about ABR, which, to him, is an “unprofessional” race team.

When calling his team unprofessional, Bowman doesn’t mean they are all laid back. The Tucson, Arizona, native explained that ABR races only when it’s convenient, focusing solely on the fun of it without worrying too much about winning.

“I guess we're (an) unprofessional race team,” said the Cup Series regular. “And it really consists of me and some friends, which is called Alex Bowman Racing. We're really original around these parts.”

For the 2025 Chili Bowl Nationals, Alex Bowman Racing will field car numbers 55a, 55v, 55x, and 55i, driven by Jake Swanson, CJ Leary, Kevin Thomas Jr., and newcomer Briggs Danner, respectively. Bowman’s Hendrick Motorsports teammates Kyle Larson and newly signed Corey Day will also compete in the event, often regarded as the “Super Bowl of Midget Racing.”

“We go racing when it's convenient and fun and don't try to have it be too much pressure anything like that,” Alex Bowman further added. “It's raw, there's no politics involved. Just you go out there and you give it 100% every night.”

Practice sessions for the 2025 Chili Bowl Nationals will be held on Sunday, January 12. There will be qualifying races each day leading to the main event, which is scheduled for January 18. As per the rules, every participant will have to pull off a top two in the Preliminary A-Main to qualify for the final event on Saturday.

“The world doesn’t revolve around KL”- fans slam Hendrick Motorsports for ignoring Alex Bowman’s involvement in the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals

Not long ago, Hendrick Motorsports on X (formerly known as Twitter) announced that former NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson and High Limit Racing driver Corey Day would enter this year’s race at the Tulsa Expo Center. Somehow, the North Carolina-based outfit missed Alex Bowman’s name.

Although Bowman will not drive an entry himself, several fans thought that being an owner of a four-car team deserved a mention. On that note, someone commented,

“What about Bowman?! The world doesn't revolve around KL. 🙄”

Another fan wrote,

“You forget Alex Bowman who is owner once again this year now with 4 micro cars.”

However, Hendrick Motorsports did put up an official statement on Bowman’s involvement a few hours ago.

“Alex Bowman and his dirt midget race team have four entries in this year’s Chili Bowl Nationals,” said the report penned by David Harris, Corporate Communications Manager at Hendrick Motorsports. “With sponsorship from Ally Financial, Bowman, driver of the No. 48 Ally Chevrolet, brings his most significant contingent yet to contest midget racing’s biggest event held annually in SageNet Center at Tulsa Expo Square.”

Besides carrying out his duties as a team owner, Bowman will now need to prepare for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series that is expected to kick off with the season-opening, non-point-paying race at Bowman Gray Stadium on February 2. Fans can watch it live on FOX from 8 pm ET onwards or listen to radio updates on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
