Former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick has shared videos of the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene in Nashville. Sharing the story of a woman who lost her shop, she blamed the authorities for "sending money overseas" that could have been used for relief.
Patrick has been outspoken about the government's decisions ahead of the 2024 Presidential Elections. Making her political stance clear on social media, she recently shared a post depicting the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene in Asheville, North Carolina. She claimed the government "failed" to handle the situation and talked about a woman who suffered a great loss because of the hurricane.
"The government failed Asheville during hurricane Helenem," Danica Patrick wrote. "They are still digging themselves out. I spoke to a woman who owns @KDsOneStop and insurance doesn’t cover flood and mud slides, so many have no way to replace their home or car or belongings that slid away in these raging mud slide rivers. Shouldn’t @fema step in? Oh wait, we sent that money overseas."
Post her racing career, Patrick has been very active on social media sharing her political views with followers. She recently supported Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump in his "common sense" speech.
Danica Patrick backs Donald Trump as he discusses "common sense"
Donald Trump discussed the Republican Party's agenda in a campaign appearance, saying its idealogy is based on "common sense." He talked about the need for borders and fair elections, saying that although they're "conservatives," their agendas are based on people's common thinking. Supporting him, Danica Patrick labeled the video "amazing" on X, calling out California's governor in the same tweet.
"Common sense would say this is all common sense," Danica Patrick wrote. "This whole video is amazing. To finish off with reminding people that Gavin NewScum of California made asking for voter ID illegal is a perfect way to paint the picture as to how ridiculous things are getting."
While Patrick is known for her competitive racing career in the IndyCar series and for being one of the few women in NASCAR and motorsports, her discussions have taken a huge turn ahead of the 2024 Presidential Elections. Her social media is flooded with political discussions and she has been actively supporting the Republicans. However, she does not leave motorsports behind as she shared a picture of her watching the 2024 F1 Brazilian Grand Prix weekend on a flight. She called it a "pause from politics" and revealed she would attend upcoming Las Vegas and Abu Dhabi races:
"A pause from politics for some @F1 sprint racing! Oh baby it’s getting exciting! There are 4 races left. They are in São Paulo this weekend. I will be working at the Vegas and Abu Dhabi races."
Patrick is currently a Formula 1 presenter with Sky Sports. Her racing career ended in 2018.
