Kevin Harvick spoke about his experience of racing in the Busch Light 100 at the Five Flags Speedway recently. The former NASCAR driver finished 16th in the Super Late Model race, after which he pointed to the brighter side of his involvement in the event.

After the race, Matt Weaver asked Harvick whether someone as competitive as him had to swallow his pride against seasoned Super Late Model drivers. Harvick said:

"When they introduced Bubba Pollard, and he set a 1:25 time, I knew I was in for a long night. But I like a project and working on the car and all the things we get to do now to fit the things I like in a car but we had no starting point"[1:15]

Harvick claimed that now he at least has "a starting point" in Super Late Model racing as he pointed to the positive takeaways from the event.

Along with Harvick, another big name from NASCAR, Chase Elliott also took part in the race. But just like Harvick, NASCAR's most popular driver also ended up with an underwhelming result with a 16th-place finish.

Yet the two of them brought in the fans as the Five Flags Speedway hosted a sold-out crowd. He described:

"I think for me, there's a lot of little things I can differently with the car and not knowing what my balance needed to be, what I had was too tight ... the car was super fun to drive and the best thing about it is the whole place was full. That's what we really want to do, go race with full grandstands and good feels with the cars and have fun with it too".

Kevin Harvick has more racing left in him despite NASCAR retirement as a full-timer

After Kevin Harvick brought the curtain down on his long and illustrious career in NASCAR at the end of 2023, he claimed that he wasn't done with racing completely.

Speaking on the Dale Jr. Download, Harvick stated that while he wasn't sure at the time, "the door is open" for him to feature in races in the future. Although he mentioned he wasn't going to drive in the NASCAR Cup Series again because he "can't be competitive." As per FloRacing, Harvick said:

"I think I want to drive something, but I don’t know what yet. It’s going to be grassroots, or it’s going to be something fun".

As for the races he could see himself competing in, Harvick claimed he running in the Super Late Model during the week, just as he recently did at Five Flags, interested him. However, he pointed to the need to drive the Super Late Model first to get some experience.

So with that said, it'll be interesting to see where and when Harvick decides to run a race next.
