Justin Allgaier, the one-time NASCAR Xfinity Series champion, is currently in second place in the driver's table. The JR Motorsports driver recently opened up about his family's racing history and their tire business during an interview with NASCAR journalist Davey Segal.
Allgaier began his racing career in the quarter-midget series before progressing to stock car racing with the ARCA Menards series. After several successful seasons in the touring car format, the #7 racer entered NASCAR's Craftsman Truck Series with MB Motorsports. Impressed by Allgaier's driving skills, he was offered an opportunity to race in the Xfinity Series for Dale and Kelley Earnhardt-owned JR Motorsports.
Since then, the American has managed to win the 2018 Xfinity Series (regular season) championship and has secured the runner-up position in 2020 and 2023. Apart from this, the Illinois-based racer has also been part of the Cup Series as a part-time driver for Hendrick Motorsports.
The 38-year-old racer recently had a candid conversation with journalist Davey Segal.
"My parents, for the last 55 years, have sold racing tires and racing parts to racers, right? My dad was instrumental in what is now the ARCA series, the ARCA Menard series. He got the contracts and he sold the tires and we traveled to all of the ARCA races as a kid because they were the tire distributor," Allgaier said, explaining his family's tire business. "We still sell racing tires to all the local Friday and Saturday night short tracks around home and in the Midwest, we sell to drag racing, motorcycles," he further added.
