Tanner Gray, a part-timer in the ARCA Menards Series for Joe Gibbs Racing, is all set to pilot the No. 15 Toyota Tundra for TRICON Garage in 2025. It will be his sixth full year in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and his third with the newly minted TRICON Garage.
Confirming the news, TRICON Garage posted on X (formerly known as Twitter),
"Staying home. Tanner Gray is back, returning to the No. 15 for the ‘25 season!"
This paves the way for Gray to solidify his position in the Toyota camp. In his rookie season, the New Mexico native amassed an impressive four top-5s and eight top-10s. However, in 2024, Gray missed out on delivering any top-5 results and wrapped up the season with five top-10s.
Furthermore, Gray did not qualify for the playoffs last season, ending up 13th on points, which, notably, was a career-best. He feels the No. 15 team has some “unfinished business” to handle in 2025. Confident about making the postseason next year, the 25-year-old speedster said (via Jayski),
“TRICON has become a second home to me, and I am looking forward to another year as the driver of the 15. I feel like we have some unfinished business after this past season, and I am as motivated as ever to compete in the postseason in 2025.”
Gray’s teammates at TRICON are yet to be named. 2025 will be his first season without his brother Taylor Gray driving alongside. The younger Gray brother, who also competed in the ARCA Menards Series in the past, will be joining Joe Gibbs Racing’s Xfinity lineup.
“Way to wheel it”- Toyota Racing sends message to Tanner Gray after unbelievable ARCA victory
Tanner Gray won the Reese’s 150 at Kansas Speedway in September. However, his journey to the victory lane was not smooth by any means. Following contact with fellow racer Amber Balcaen, the left-rear tire on Gray’s No. 18 machine started losing air with just a lap to go.
Gray, however, wasn’t ready to let anything or anyone slow him down. Despite leading a race-high 86 laps, he had lost the win to Connor Mosack during the Tide 150, also at Kansas Speedway, back in May and so this time around, it was a do-or-die situation for him.
Thankfully, Gray’s tire had enough air to hold off Connor Zilisch, Corey Day, and Andy Jankowiak over the closing laps at Kansas. The following video shows how Gray swam to victory on smoking, soon-to-rupture tires.
Congratulating Tanner Gray on his victory, Toyota Racing posted on Instagram,
“Won it with a FLAT LEFT REAR. Way to wheel it @tannergray15”
Tanner Gray will now prepare for his upcoming stint with TRICON Garage. He is yet to win a race in NASCAR’s national series. Starting at Daytona International Speedway on February 14, 2025, that is exactly what Gray will be vying for.
