Kyle Larson has his sights set on tackling Double Duty again next year, and he's already thinking about what he'd like to improve. Larson said he intends to focus on his balance for the race. Logistically, he suggested Hendrick Motorsports (HMS) use a less busy airport than the one in Indianapolis to ensure a timely arrival at Charlotte Motor Speedway next year.

The #5 won the Brickyard 400 race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in a double overtime finish on Sunday. While he felt the circle of 'Double' in 2024 was completed after the win, he is committed to giving the "Double Duty" another go in an Indy car next year.

Kyle Larson finished P18 in his Indy 500 debut due to a late speeding penalty. A race delay of nearly five hours prevented him from participating in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, which was later shortened due to rain.

Discussing potential improvements for his next attempt at Double Duty on the "Harvick's Happy Hour" podcast, Kyle Larson said:

"I mean there's obvious things like of Race Craft or you know working on your balance throughout practice because it is a little bit different once you get to racing. The balance, you know, was much tighter, I didn't realize like how actually hard it would be to pass and I was a little bit too tight in the race to make moves." [at 9:14]
"I think one thing that I would look at changing would be is, I don't know if there's another airport nearby that one of, you know, Rick's planes could take off from. That may be a lot less busy that we could you know maybe it's a two or three minute extra helicopter ride but you save 15 minutes of taxiing." [at 10:05]

Kyle Larson intends to come back for the Indy 500 next year

Despite not securing a top-10 or top-5 finish at this year's Indy 500, Kyle Larson made a strong impression and is eager for another go. Speaking to fans on the front stretch after his Brickyard 400 victory at NASCAR, Larson expressed his affection for the venue and its supporters. He said (via Indycar court reporter Nathan Brown's X handle):

"It's such a prestigious place and such hallowed ground. I love you, Indiana fans, and I know you love me, too. How about we come back next May and try to kiss the bricks in the Indy car?”

However, when asked about the possibility of Kyle Larson attempting another Double Duty, team owner Rick Hendrick was cautious, as he said, “Not yet.”

It will be intriguing to see how Kyle Larson's plans unfold and how HMS and NASCAR adjust their strategies if he decides to take on the Double Duty challenge once again.
