Kyle Busch may be a two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, but his nine-year-old son still tells him how to race. In an interview with FloRacing, Brexton Busch shared how he exchanged racing tips with his father ahead of the Tulsa Shootout.
Busch is a 39-year-old Las Vegas native currently competing in the Tulsa Shootout with his son Brexton. The NASCAR driver has entered four classes, while Brexton is running two classes in the indoor micro sprint racing event in Oklahoma.
When asked what it was like racing with his father, the young driver said (via FloRacing on X):
"Sometimes, whenever he doesn't do too good, I tell him how to race." [1:44]
However, when Brexton is the one having a rough race, Kyle steps in to give him advice.
"Sometimes, whenever I don't do too good, he gives me some tips," Brexton shared. [1:51]
In response, Kyle Busch said:
"It's good. It's fun. There was a race this year when where he was like, 'You got to run the bottom,' and of course, I went to the top and tried to make something happen because everyone was stuck at the bottom. He came in afterward and said, 'I told you, you have to stay at the bottom.'" [1:59]
Driving the No. 18b micro sprint car, Brexton Busch recently won the pole position in the Jr. Sprint A race on Saturday. He also won the FuelTech Race 135 of the Jr. Sprint class and finished fifth in the FuelTech Race 88 of the Restricted A class.
The 2025 Tulsa Shootout is running until January 4. Later in the month, Kyle Busch will debut in the Chili Bowl, where he will compete against fellow NASCAR drivers Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell.

NASCAR veteran Kenny Wallace has shared his thoughts on Kyle Busch's son, NASCAR veteran Kenny Wallace has shared his thoughts on Kyle Busch's son, Brexton, as the young driver competes in the Tulsa Shootout. Wallace argued that Brexton drives like his father but acts like his mother, Samantha.
In an X (formerly Twitter) post via the "Coffee With Kenny" show, the nine-time Xfinity Series race winner said:
"We all know that the Busch brothers (Kyle and Kurt Busch) have always been very intense with their interviews but it appears mama, Samantha Busch, as they call her Sam, it appears Sam has got a hold of Brexton. What a pleasant happy young man. Just a good interview. You could just tell he's a different spirit." [2:00]
He added:
"I really think Brexton drives like his father but acts like his mama. Just a good spirit, I really like Brexton," he added.
Brexton's father Kyle is also a veteran NASCAR racer driving the No. 8 Chevrolet Camaro for Richard Childress Racing. He concluded the 2024 season with one pole, five top-5s, and 10 top-10s.
Considering the driver didn't win a race, his 19-year streak of winning at least one race in a season ended.
The Las Vegas native will look to snap a cold streak in the 2025 Cup Series season, which will kick off at the Daytona International Speedway on February 16.
