Kyle Larson has shared his thoughts on getting ready for this weekend's NASCAR Brickyard 400. The 31-year-old is focused on the upcoming race and has already put his Indy 500 struggles from earlier this year behind him.
Larson races full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. He is currently second in the 2024 Cup Series standings with three wins and 700 points to his name.
He also competes part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the NTT IndyCar Series for Hendrick Motorsports. Larson was named one of NASCAR's 75 greatest drivers of all time last year, and recently also set a record for the closest finish in Cup Series history at Kansas.
Talking about his racing approach, Kyle Larson said he moves on quickly from one race to the next.
"I think I stay so busy with different races and stuff, you know, I don't know when I move past the race, I kind of move on from it," he explained.
According to him, it is best to stay focused and not dwell on past experiences. For this Sunday's race, he is not giving much thought to his run at Indy 500 and how it might affect his plans in the NASCAR Cup Series.
"Leaning into this week to this point, I haven't really had any thoughts about the 500, and what that's going to mean for this week or if I'll have a different perspective when I get there or anything like that."

Kyle Larson's history at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
The Brickyard 400 will mark the 30th edition of the race, and NASCAR fans can look forward to a captivating event at the oval circuit.
This 400-mile race is back on the NASCAR calendar after a three-year absence, and Kyle Larson is among the favorites to come out on top this weekend. He has competed in six Brickyard 400 races with three top-10 finishes and one top-5 finish to his name. However, he is yet to secure a win at this event.
In May, Kyle Larson attempted to compete at Indy 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte in a single day. But his plans were thwarted by inclement weather. He finished 18th in the Indy 500, but didn't get to race at Charlotte due to persistent rain.
Larson is of the opinion that he will feel the difference in atmosphere between a NASCAR event and an IndyCar race this weekend. But he is worried about the weather conditions they might face.
"I'm still anxious about the weather because we're supposed to leave for Indy on Monday. So, don't need any rain."
