Kyle Busch and his wife Samantha have been quite open about their struggles with infertility. However, as per Samantha Busch's old interview, the struggles started seeping into their day-to-day lives which made her think that the marriage with Kyle Busch was not going to work out.
Back in 2020, Samantha Busch talked to People magazine and shared that the tattoo on the ring finger of her right hand - a heart with two crosses - serves as a dual reminder: of their struggles with infertility and of their fight to save their marriage. Kyle and Samantha Busch acknowledged that during their nearly decade-long union, there were times when their relationship teetered on the brink, mainly because of the emotional toll of their infertility journey.
Despite their united front in public, things were not always as they seemed. After experiencing two miscarriages, the emotional strain was palpable. She reflected on these hardships, saying:
"After the miscarriage [in November 2018 the daughter they'd conceived via IVF], there were days that I was like, 'I don't think we are going to make it at this point.' We were fighting every single day about everything."
Samantha Busch also addressed the misconceptions fueled by social media, where pictures captured often paint a misleading picture of the reality. She explained that when people see Instagram photos they think that the couple [Buschs] has been trying so long to get pregnant but that has not changed anything between them and they are so loving toward each other, but that's just a snapshot. That's just two seconds and that's not always what's happening behind closed doors, she said.
The couple's fertility journey was even more challenging as they went through these struggles under the gaze of their then-5½-year-old son. But then, in May 2022, they joyfully announced the birth of their second child, Lennix Key Busch.
Amidst these personal developments, Joe Gibbs Racing had prepared for any scenario, stationing Trevor Bayne at Darlington Raceway for the previous weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race. This was a precaution in case the surrogate, who was carrying their child, went into labor.
Kyle and Samantha Busch now help out other parents dealing with infertility
The Busch couple has gone through the painful infertility journey, from the emotional toll to the strains it places on relationships. Their battles with IVF, which can cost upwards of $20,000 per cycle, highlighted the financial burdens of fertility treatments. Inspired by the happiness their son Brexton brought them, they decided to help other couples experience the same joy by providing financial aid and resources.
In 2015, they established the Samantha and Kyle Busch Bundle of Joy Fund. The initiative is dedicated to raising awareness about infertility. It supports couples facing similar struggles, easing the financial load of fertility treatments for families in their home state of North Carolina.
