NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. made his return to late model racing on Saturday (November 23) at Florence Motor Speedway. A large crowd gathered to watch the late model star drivers locking horns against one of NASCAR’s most popular drivers, Earnhardt Jr.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s outing didn’t go his way as some of the fans may have hoped, but he put on a good show in his iconic red-and-black #8 Budweiser scheme on his return to the track. Dale Earnhardt Jr. ended up finishing P28 in the final running order due to late car issues.

The 50-year-old Kannapolis, North Carolina native was the closest competitor to the eventual winner Treyten Lapcevich for an extended period before heading to pit road with a fuel pump issue from the second position. Due to mechanical issues, his race ended early with 31 laps left in the 250-lap short-track race.

Meanwhile, Treyten Lapcevich won the South Carolina 400 at Florence Motor Speedway after dominating the second half of the race. Lapcevich held off the charge of Doug Barnes and grabbed the checkered flag by an impressive margin of 3.939 seconds.

Doug Barnes finished runner-up, followed by Sam Yarbrough, Jacob Heafner, and Carson Loftin in the top five. Brent Crews, Kade Brown, Darren Krantz, Jr., Casey Kelley, and Riley Gentry completed the top 10.

Josh Berry, who currently competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series in the #21 Ford Mustang for Wood Brothers Racing, finished 25th at 0.4-mile Florence track.
