Following the title-deciding finale at Phoenix Raceway on November 10, Kyle Larson flew off to the Bahamas with his family on a much-needed vacation. On returning, he told Frontstretch that he had yet another vacation on his to-do list for the 2024 offseason.

However, Kyle Larson did not completely rule out racing during the period. The Hendrick Motorsports ace closed the season with a series-high six wins and has been honing his midget racing skills ever since.

When asked about his offseason itinerary, the 2021 Cup Series champion said,

“I’ll do a handful of races for sure. Still trying to figure out all my plans, but yeah, I’ve got some midget races coming up in the next few weeks and then I’ll go to Australia. That’s my for sure races, I’m doing right now.” (0:25)

Larson is yet to finalize his dirt racing calendar. But like he said in the previous interview, the races in Mexico will not be on the list. Last year, Larson delivered a victory in the Hangtown 100 at Placerville Speedway days after NASCAR crowned Ryan Blaney the 2023 Cup Series champion. It was his second win at the event since its inaugural running back in 2019, which, again, was a clean sweep by the Elk Grove native.

Now Larson could possibly announce a last-minute entry before the 2025 season starts at Bowman Gray on February 2. Notably, Larson is known for his last-minute entries. He took part in this year’s Chili Bowl, a race he won twice before but had not planned on running this year.

The Chevy star was already running the Wild West Shootout in Vado, New Mexico, which was held from January 4th to 12th, the same week as the prestigious annual race held at Tulsa, Oklahoma. However, he didn’t qualify for the main event.

Kyle Larson reacts to his rival’s potential return to dirt tracks

Joe Gibbs Racing always had a policy of not letting their drivers run in any race outside of NASCAR. But not anymore. Last week, the Toyota team announced their drivers will now be allowed to run races that are not sanctioned by NASCAR.

This means Christopher Bell, who drives the No. 20 Camry for the 10-time championship-winning organization, can now face Kyle Larson on the dirt tracks of the US. Larson has been quite successful in his dirt racing career, but notably, Bell, too, is a three-time Chili Bowl winner.

When asked what he thought about Bell racing against him, Larson said,

“He’s still Christopher Bell and I wouldn’t be surprised whenever his first race is if he goes and wins. Hopefully, we’ll get to race and battle up front and have some duels like we used to and hopefully I’ll come out on top more often because he beat me all the time for a long time.”
“But I’m happy. I think it’s good for the sport,” he added.

While Bell and Larson prepare for whichever dirt racing they are planning on doing in the future, NASCAR prepares for the upcoming season. Fans can take a look at the schedule here.
