Ahead of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville Superspeedway, NASCAR Cup Series drivers Ross Chastain and Josh Berry took part in a pro-late model race at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on Thursday, June 26.

Both the Cup drivers were in contention for the win and put on a consistent show running inside the top eight throughout the race. Ross Chastain and Josh Berry ended up finishing P4 and P5, respectively, after being involved in a battle for the lead with 15 laps to go in the inaugural Battle of Broadway 150 at Nashville Fairgrounds.

Berry, who drives the #4 Ford for Stewart-Haas Racing in Cup Series, passed Chastain in fifth place for the first time on lap 136 of the 150. However, Chastain moved back in front of his fellow Cup driver on the next lap.

Reflecting on his P4 finish at Nashville, Ross Chastain, the full-time Cup driver at Trackhouse Racing, said (via racingamerica.com):

“We were okay. I thought we were a second-to-fourth-place car most of the night. We raced around some guys and tried to learn how they save tires and where I could give up time on track and do that. I thought I did an okay job. Looking back, I probably could have been third, not fourth.”

Chastain, who was running solid, couldn’t hold off the dominance of Trey Craig to win the inaugural race and the prize money of $10,000. It’s the biggest win of Craig’s racing career.

Trey Craig grabbed the lead on 61 of the 150 laps and maintained the top spot despite a chaotic late-race restart featuring the likes of Chastain and Brett Robinson. Craig crossed the finish line by an impressive margin of 1.217 seconds, ahead of Robinson.

Meanwhile, Brett Robinson finished runner-up, followed by Corey Deuser, Ross Chastain, and Josh Berry in the top-five. Cole Williams, Dawson Sutton, Bennie Hamlett, Austin Wilson, and George Phillips completed the top-10.
