Which NASCAR driver and team has the most wins at Bristol Motor Speedway?

The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series heads to the Bristol Motor Speedway for the Bass Pro Shops Night Race. The excitement is high, as it’s the elimination race of the Round of 16 playoffs season at the shortest track on the schedule.

The Bristol Motor Speedway is in Bristol, Tennessee. The 0.5-mile track features 26-30 degrees of banking in the turns and 6-10 degrees of banking on the straightaways.

It hosted its first NASCAR Cup Series race in 1961, where owner/driver Jack Smith (with relief from Johnny Allen) emerged victorious in the #46 Pontiac.

Since the inaugural race, some of the biggest stars and teams have reached victory lane at least once at Bristol Motor Speedway. A total of 44 different NASCAR drivers have taken the checkered flag in 126 Cup races at Bristol’s shortest oval track.

With 12 victories, NASCAR legend Darrell Waltrip is the most successful driver at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Cup Series history. Waltrip took his first checkered flag on this track in 1978, while his last win came in 1992.

Among active Cup drivers, Kyle Busch holds the lead with eight victories at Bristol. The next closest driver to him is Denny Hamlin with four wins.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s 15 Cup wins at 0.5-mile track are the most among all teams. They came in 2001, 2009–2010, 2012–2013, 2017, 2019, 2023, 2009, 2011, 2015–2016, 2018–2019, and 2024. Meanwhile, Team Penske has won here 13 times.

Eight manufacturers have won at this track, led by Chevrolet with 46 wins. They are followed by Ford (40), Toyota (14), Dodge (8), Pontiac (8), Buick (4), Plymouth (3), and Oldsmobile (1).
