The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series heads to the Homestead-Miami Speedway for the Straight Talk Wireless 400. The excitement is high, as it’s the second race of the final round of the playoffs season at the intermediate track on the schedule.
The Homestead-Miami Speedway is in Homestead, Florida. The 1.5-mile track features 18-20 degree variable banking and 3 degrees on the front and back stretch.
It hosted its first NASCAR Cup Series race in 1999, where NASCAR legend Tony Stewart emerged victorious in the #46 Pontiac for Joe Gibbs Racing.
NASCAR doesn’t have a very long history with the 1.5-mile Homestead track, but since the inaugural race, some of the biggest stars and teams have reached victory lane at least once at Homestead-Miami Speedway. A total of 13 different drivers have taken the checkered flag in 25 Cup races at Homestead-Miami.
With three victories each, Tony Stewart, Greg Biffle and Denny Hamlin are the most successful drivers at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Cup Series history. Stewart won the back-to-back Cup Series races and in 2011 at this track, while Biffle won three consecutive from 2004 to 2006. Meanwhile, active driver Hamlin took his first checkered flag at the venue in 2009, while his last win came in 2020.
Among active Cup drivers, Kyle Busch is the next closest driver to them with two victories at Homestead.
Joe Gibbs Racing’s nine Cup wins at 1.5-mile track are the most among all teams. They came in 1999, 2000, 2003, 2009, 2013, 2015, 2019, 2020, and 2023. Meanwhile, RFK Racing has won here seven times.
Five manufacturers have won at this track, led by Ford with eight wins. They are followed by Toyota (seven), Chevrolet (seven), Pontiac (two), and Dodge (one).
