The 2024 NASCAR season was yet another thrilling rendition of the racing series. On one hand, Team Penske's Joey Logano claimed his third NASCAR Cup Series championship. Meanwhile, drivers like Justin Allgaier and Ty Majeski claimed their first-ever NASCAR race titles, in the Xfinity and Truck series, respectively.
The campaign also featured several crashes that added to the drama. However, one driver who did not register a single DNF in the 2024 season across all three series was Stewart Friesen. Driving for his team, Halmar Friesen Racing, Friesen competed in all 23 races of the campaign and crossed the finish line in each of them.
At 41, Stewart Friesen is a veteran of the sport who has been around the NASCAR circuit for nearly a decade. Competing in his own team in the Truck Series, the Halmar Friesen owner has historically secured a playoff position in every single campaign he has raced in full-time. Friesen was also a part of the 2019 Championship 4 field that competed for the title in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He concluded the 2024 Truck Series campaign in 12th position, recording a best finish of P2 in Charlotte.
One of the incidents of Friesen's 2024 NASCAR campaign that grabbed headlines was his physical altercation with young driver Nick Sanchez early on in the season. Friesen grabbed the 23-year-old Sanchez by the neck following their on-track incident at Bristol Motor Speedway, before they were separated by the officials.
Which NASCAR drivers had the most number of DNFs in 2024?
21-year-old driver Parker Retzlaff takes home the unwanted crown for the most number of DNFs registered in the 2024 NASCAR campaign across all three series. Driving for Jordan Anderson Racing in the Xfinity Series, Retzlaff failed to cross the finish line in 12 out of 33 races in the 2024 season.
Retzlaff, who kicked off his season with a third-place finish in Daytona, looked impressive after two top-5 finishes in the first two races of the campaign. However, it was all downhill for the Wisconsin native since then, as he failed to make a mark in the rest of the campaign.
Retzlaff finished the season in 21st position in the rankings. His 12 DNFs in the last season mean that he has as many DNFs in 2024 as he has top-10 finishes in his Xfinity career.
Meanwhile, in the Cup Series, 34-year-old rookie Josh Berry registered the highest number of DNF results, 10. A lot was expected of the former JR Motorsports superstar who was making his full-time Cup Series debut with Stewart-Haas Racing in 2024. However, Berry could only secure two top-5 finishes in the season, bowing out of the campaign in 27th spot.
Ahead of the 2025 campaign, Josh Berry has signed a multi-year deal with Wood Brothers Racing and will be looking to right the wrongs from the previous campaign.
