NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series' most popular driver award winner Hailie Deegan is the daughter of the famous motocross driver and multi-time X Games gold medalist, Brian Deegan. The Temecula, California native comes from a family well-versed in the motorsport world.
Deegan is the eldest of three siblings. Her life behind the wheel started with riding dirtbikes, following in her father's footsteps. She eventually made her way into karting, winning her first Karting race in 2009 at only 8 years old. In 2016, Deegan switched from off-road racing to racing on asphalt, appearing in the CARS Tour.
Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Hailie Deegan's father, Brian Deegan is considered a legend of motorsports. He is one of the most decorated athletes in the history of the X Games. Over the course of his career, he secured a total of 14 medals in both motocross and rally racing. He was also the first to land a 360 in a freestyle motocross competition, in the Winter X Games. Brian Deegan is also the co-founder of Metal Mulisha, which is an action sports clothing line.
Brian Deegan married Marissa Leonti in 2003. Hailing from Corona, California, the latter is not just a supportive mother and wife but is also the co-owner of Deegan Motor Sports Company. She actively posts on social media, particularly Instagram(@marissadeegan), where she has gathered a huge number of followers, currently at 182k, sharing updates about her family and their progress in various racing circuits. Moreover, Marissa Deegan is also known to be involved in her husband's clothing line.
In 2018, Hailie Deegan was announced as a full-time driver in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series - West, where she secured 3 wins. She also appeared in the ARCA Menards, competing for Venturini Motorsports. In October 2020, Deegan made her Truck Series debut driving the #17 Ford for DGR-Crosley, before signing on as a full-time driver for the 2021 season.
The following year, Deegan made her debut in the Xfinity Series finishing 13th in Las Vegas, driving the #7 Chevrolet for SS Green Light Racing. In October 2023, Deegan signed a multi-year deal to drive the #15 Ford for AM Racing for the 2024 season but as things currently stand, Deegan and AM Racing have decided to part ways.
"Our goals no longer align" - Hailie Deegan on parting ways with AM Racing
After an underwhelming season, Hailie Deegan and AM Racing decided to part ways on July 8. Driving the #15 Ford for AM Racing, Deegan failed to secure a single top-ten finish, placing her at P28 in the driver standings. This lack of success might have contributed to their split.
AM Racing announced this news through a post on X (formerly Twitter). Deegan also had a few words to share on her X (formerly Twitter) account, though the post appears to have been taken down since. She wrote:
"There are always several reasons within a race team as to why things do or do not work, but sadly our goals no longer align. With that being said, myself and AM Racing will be parting ways."
Ahead of the race at Pocono, Josh Berry will be driving the #15 Ford for AM Racing in the Xfinity Series.
