The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race was finally done and dusted on Sunday, November 10. The title-deciding race of the season started at 3 pm and lasted for two hours, 56 minutes, and 16 seconds at the Phoenix Raceway, with 40 entries.
The 2024 Championship Race saw 16 lead changes among eight drivers and four caution flags.
Who won the NASCAR Cup Series Championship in 2024?
Driving the #22 Ford for Team Penske, Joey Logano held off fellow championship 4 contenders Ryan Blaney, William Byron, and Tyler Reddick to win the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Championship on Sunday at Phoenix Raceway.
Logano took control of the Championship Race when he grabbed the lead from Byron for the final time on Lap 260 and then held off a massive charge from his teammate Blaney in the closing laps to earn his fourth win of the season and his third career Cup Series title, adding to the championships he won in 2018 and 2022.
The 34-year-old driver led the 107 of the 312 laps, the second highest in a race, and crossed the finish line by a margin of 0.330 seconds ahead of Blaney to become the champion. Logano now becomes the 10th driver to win three or more Cup championships in sport’s history. It marked the third consecutive title for Team Penske.
Meanwhile, the defending champion Ryan Blaney finished runner-up, followed by William Byron, Kyle Larson, and Christopher Bell in the top-five. Tyler Reddick, Bubba Wallace, Chase Elliott, Chris Buescher, and Daniel Suarez completed the top 10 in the Championship Race.
