Who won the NASCAR race today?
Driving the #5 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, Kyle Larson secured his sixth win of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season in a dominant fashion and advanced to the Round of 8 at the 2.28-mile, 17-turn Charlotte Roval.
Larson dominated the second half of the Bank of America ROVAL 400, leading 62 of the final 82 laps. His second-half dominance came after he clinched a berth in the next round of playoffs on points. He grabbed the lead for the final time from Christopher Bell on Lap 77 and never looked back to cross the finish line in P1.
The #5 Chevy driver crossed the finish line by a margin of 1.511 seconds ahead of Bell to take the checkered flag. The win marked his second at Roval and the 29th of his Cup Series career.
Meanwhile, Christopher Bell finished runner-up, followed by William Byron, Austin Cindric, and Chase Elliott in the top five. A. J. Allmendinger, Shane van Gisbergen, Joey Logano, Bubba Wallace, and Ryan Blaney completed the top 10 in the Bank of America ROVAL 400.
Initially, two-time NASCAR champion Joey Logano, his Team Penske teammate Austin Cindric, Daniel Suarez, and Chase Briscoe were eliminated from the NASCAR playoff. But in the post-race inspection, Alex Bowman’s #48 Chevrolet failed post-race tech inspection and was disqualified, knocking Bowman out of the playoffs and restoring Logano to the Round of 8 for the championship fight.
