Who won the NASCAR race today?

Driving the #17 Ford for RFK Racing, Chris Buescher, a non-playoff driver, secured his first win of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season in overtime at Watkins Glen.

Buescher, who narrowly missed making the NASCAR Playoffs, survived in NASCAR overtime and passed road racing ace Shane van Gisbergen in a bumper-to-bumper last-lap duel to cross the finish line in P1.

On the final restart in overtime, SVG grabbed the lead from the second row in a daring three-wide move, but Buescher gave chase over the following lap, leading to a white flag. Buescher led 19 of 92 laps and crossed the finish line by an impressive margin of 0.979 seconds ahead of SVG to take the checkered flag.

The win marked Buescher’s first career road-course victory and the sixth of his Cup Series career.

Meanwhile, Shane van Gisbergen finished runner-up, followed by Carson Hocevar, Ross Chastain, and Zane Smith in the top five. Chase Briscoe, Michael McDowell, Corey LaJoie, Ryan Preece, and Austin Cindric completed the top 10 in the Go Bowling at The Glen.
