Who won the NASCAR race today?

Driving the #1 Chevrolet for Trackhouse Racing, Ross Chastain, a non-playoff driver, secured his first win of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season at Kansas.

Chastain, who failed to qualify for this year’s playoffs, grabbed the lead from Martin Truex Jr. on restart from 21 laps to go and then held off the hard-charging William Byron on the final lap to end his 30-race winless streak.

Chastain led 52 of the 267 laps and crossed the finish line by a close margin of 0.388 seconds ahead of Byron to take the checkered flag. The win marked his first at Kansas and the fifth of his Cup Series career.

Meanwhile, William Byron finished runner-up, followed by Martin Truex Jr., the defending NASCAR champion Ryan Blaney, and Ty Gibbs in the top five. Alex Bowman, Christopher Bell, Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott, and Zane Smith completed the top 10 in the Hollywood Casino 400.

Tyler Reddick, the defending winner of the event, only manages to finish in 25th place.
