The 2024 Straight Talk Wireless 400 was finally done and dusted on Sunday, October 27. The eighth race of the NASCAR playoff season and the second race of the Round of 8 started at 2:30 pm and lasted for three hours, five minutes, and 55 seconds at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, with 38 entries.
The 2024 Straight Talk Wireless 400 saw 33 lead changes among 11 drivers and six caution flags.
Who won the NASCAR race today?
Driving the #45 Toyota for 23XI Racing, Tyler Reddick secured his third win of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season with a last-lap pass at a 1.5-mile Homestead track. The win puts him in the title-deciding championship 4 race for the first time in his career.
Reddick prevailed in an electric last-lap battle with defending NASCAR champion Ryan Blaney and his team owner, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin. He overcame a disadvantage on tires on the last lap to first pass his boss, Hamlin, entering in Turns 1 and 2, and then moved high to the outside of Blaney in the final corner to claim the memorable win of his career.
Reddick, who started on pole, led 97 of 267 laps and crossed the finish line by a margin of 0.241 seconds ahead of Blaney to take the checkered flag. The win marked the eighth of his Cup Series career.
Blaney finished runner-up and Hamlin finished third, which left them in must-win situations heading into next week’s race at Martinsville.
The defending winners of the event, Christopher Bell, Chase Elliott, William Byron, Alex Bowman, A. J. Allmendinger, Carson Hocevar, and Ryan Preece, completed the top 10 in the Straight Talk Wireless 400.
