Who won the NASCAR race today?
Driving the #12 Ford for Team Penske, Ryan Blaney has captured the victory in Sunday’s Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway and locked himself for the Championship 4 race for the second straight year with a win in the Round of 8 elimination race.
Blaney entered the Martinsville race in a must-win situation and took command of the race when he grabbed the lead from Chase Elliott on Lap 486 of 500 and stayed out front without any challenge to win his third race of the season.
The defending NASCAR Cup champion Blaney led 32 of the 500 laps and crossed the finish line by a margin of 2.593 seconds ahead of Elliott to take the checkered flag. He will go to Phoenix Raceway next week with an opportunity to win back-to-back NASCAR Cup Series championships. The win marked the 13th of his Cup Series career.
Meanwhile, Chase Elliott finished runner-up, followed by Kyle Larson, Austin Cindric, and Denny Hamlin in the top five. William Byron, Austin Dillon, Ross Chastain, Brad Keselowski, and Joey Logano completed the top 10 in the Xfinity 500.
Drivers who advanced to the Championship 4 race at Phoenix are Joey Logano, Tyler Reddick, Ryan Blaney, and William Byron.
