The 2024 Ally 400 concluded on Sunday, June 30. The 19th race of the season started at 3:30 pm ET and lasted for four hours, three minutes, and 54 seconds at the Nashville Superspeedway, with 38 entries.
The 2024 Ally 400 saw 20 lead changes among 11 drivers and 15 caution flags.
Who won the NASCAR race today?
Joey Logano, driving the #22 Ford for Team Penske, secured his first win of the 2024 season after surviving a record five overtimes at Nashville. The win locked his spot in the 16-driver playoff field for the 2024 playoffs.
The two-time NASCAR Cup champion grabbed the lead after the third overtime when Denny Hamlin and others were forced to pit for fuel. Logano appeared in contention to win in the fourth overtime, but a caution came out just before he took the white flag.
On the final lap of the fifth overtime, Logano was out of gas but somehow able to gather enough fuel he needed to fend off a challenge of rookie Zane Smith and Tyler Reddick to end his winless streak of more than a year.
Joey Logano crossed the finish line 0.068 seconds ahead of Smith to take the checkered flag. The win marked the 33rd of his NASCAR Cup career.
Meanwhile, Smith scored his career-best runner-up finish, followed by Tyler Reddick, Ryan Preece, and Chris Buescher in the top five. Ryan Blaney, Bubba Wallace, Kyle Larson, Daniel Hemric, and Noah Gragson completed the top 10 in the Ally 400.
