Amy Earnhardt, wife of retired Cup Series driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., took to social media to share a humorous video about moms who have kids who them help decorate Christmas trees. She questioned why she has to be an "a**hole" during Christmas tree decorating.
In an Instagram post, user Kristen Cruz, who goes by the handle @porchswingsandmistletoethings, posted an edited video that shows a snippet of actor Chevy Chase in the hit Christmas movie National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. In the scene, Chase is sipping a cup of egg nog and laughing while the caption reads "Kids helping decorate the Christmas tree" followed by "Moms everywhere."
The video is meant to poke fun at moms with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and how it's affected when their kids are decorating the Christmas tree. In the post's caption, Cruz wrote:
"My OCD struggle gets real strong when it comes to the Christmas tree y'all. 😩 Who else can relate?!"
This post was shared by Amy on her personal Instagram stories and signified that she can relate to the meme as her caption read:
"Why do I have to be such an a**hole?"
Amy and Dale have two children together as they welcomed their first daughter, Isla Rose, on April 30, 2018. Amy gave birth to their second daughter, Nicole Loraine, on October 12, 2020.
She was active on her Instagram stories earlier this week to show off some of her husband's new Budweiser #8 merch. The 26-time Cup Series race winner is bringing back the famed number and sponsor combination to select late model stock car races in 2024 and 2025, starting with a race at Florence Motor Speedway on November 23.
Amy posed for a picture in a red sweatshirt with her husband's #8 Budweiser car across the front, writing "OOTD," an acronym for "outfit of the day," along with a link to Earnhardt's Budweiser #8 merchandise.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. returned to NASCAR competition at Bristol last September
Dale Earnhardt Jr. made his annual appearance in the Xfinity Series last September at the Bristol Motor Speedway, where he piloted his self-owned #88 Jr. Motorsports Chevrolet to a seventh-place finish. The 50-year-old retired from full-time Cup Series competition in 2017.
Since retirement, the North Carolina native has ventured into race broadcasting as he became a NASCAR NBC Sports commentator in 2018. He spent six seasons with the station before taking a year off this season. In 2025, Earnhardt will join the TNT Sports/Amazon broadcast team for its slate of Cup Series races.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. has the chance to win his fourth Xfinity Series championship as an owner this Saturday at Phoenix with Justin Allgaier, who will battle A.J. Allmendinger, Austin Hill, and Cole Custer for the title.
