Dale Earnhardt Jr. admitted that he is now hooked on building lego sets and humorously blamed Hendrick Motorsports driver William Byron for introducing him to the hobby earlier this season, which is now putting a dent in his pocket.
Byron revealed his love for lego sets in NASCAR's documentary released on Netflix. Dale Jr. picked up the hobby after Byron recommended him to buy the Titanic Lego set. Junior spent the vacation trying to build it with his kids and family.
The 49-year-old NASCAR Hall of Famer seems to have become hooked on building Legos and has recently ordered many more sets. In the latest episode of Dale Jr. Download, he opened up about his recent obsession, humorously blaming William Byron for his new hobby.
"I bought the Titanic lego set, we got it started, we had a little update last week. I left it at the house, I just feel like it'll just stay there. But I bought some more sets. Blaming Byron, for all of this... he's costing me on these lego sets." he said.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. mentioned that he is now buying Lego sets of the Millennium Falcon, the Batman: Animated Series set, the Ghostbusters car, the Back to the Future car, and a Retro 50s radio.
Dale Jr. jokingly called Byron an a**hole, but admitted he is having fun with it.
"So Byron, you're an a**hole, but I love these legos man! Having fun with that."
The #24 Hendrick Motorsports driver was happy to see Dale Jr. obsessed with Legos. He wrote on X (previously Twitter):
"You’re hooked 😂 love it"
Dale Earnhardt Jr. praises William Byron's cameo in the CARS Tour series
Before the Chicago Street Race weekend, William Byron was reunited with JR Motorsports in the CARS Tour Series, piloting the #24 entry in the Late Model race at Caraway Speedway.
Byron wrapped up his return to grassroots racing with a second-place finish, behind race winner Brent Crews. Dale Earnhadt Jr. praised Byron's efforts in the race. He said on the aforementioned podcast:
"Great job in the CARS Tour this past weekend at Caraway, second place finish, awesome job."
After securing a second-place finish with the JR Motorsports crew, William Byron said he had a blast and expressed his desire to return for another Late Model race soon.
On the NASCAR Cup side, Byron sits sixth in the regular season standings. With three victories, he is tied for the most wins this season with teammate Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, and Christopher Bell.
