Josh Berry is set to pilot the No. 21 Ford Mustang, competing for Wood Brothers Racing for the 2025 Cup Series season. He will replace the current #21 driver Harrison Burton.

The #4 Ford driver Berry's future was up in the air after Stewart-Haas Racing co-owners, Tony Stewart and Gene Haas, announced the closure of their operation after the 2024 season. Berry is in his rookie season in the Cup Series and will continue his Cup campaign in the Ford roster behind the wheels of the #21 for the oldest active NASCAR team.

"Wood Brothers Racing has a new driver coming in 2025. NASCAR’s oldest active team is picking up Josh Berry from Stewart-Haas."

Wood Brothers Racing was formed in 1950. They currently field Harrison Burton, the son of former NASCAR driver Jeff Burton in a one-car charter in the Cup Series. The 23-year-old second-generation driver is in his third season with WBR. Burton has one top-five and five top-ten finishes in 92 career races.

In the 2024 Cup Series season, Burton sits at P33 in the overall points standings. Meanwhile, #4 Berry became available as he entered the free agent market after SHR's closure.

In a recent press conference, Wood Brothers Racing discussed why Josh Berry was the preferred choice (via Claire B Lan).

"What I mean, it's nice to be on the same thing. Josh said we had to come to the face first because he had a relationship with Ford Motor Company...But we had Josh in the background line anyway. And everything unfolded like it did. We were just really excited to get the talk to Josh. And we didn't waste any time doing it," the WBR official said.

Berry became the second driver from the SHR's current shed to get a confirmed ride for the upcoming Cup Series season. A couple of days ago, Chase Briscoe landed a deal with Joe Gibbs Racing, replacing NASCAR veteran Martin Truex Jr. in the #19 Toyota. After Briscoe and Berry announced their future ride, Noah Gragson and Ryan Preece's future is in limbo.

A brief about Josh Berry in the NASCAR competitive season

Josh Berry replaced former NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick after the latter's retirement in the #4 Ford for Stewart-Haas Racing.

Before joining SHR as a full-time driver, Berry was spotlighted in the NASCAR divisions for driving the #8 Chevy for JR Motorsports in the Xfinity Series. He also accumulated five wins for the Dale Jr-led JRM. Moreover, Berry competed for JRM in the zMAX CARS Tour and became the 2017 CARS Late Model Stock Tour Champion.

Currently, Berry sits at P19 in the overall Cup Series standings. He has two top-fives and four top-ten finishes after 19 starts in the 2024 Cup Series season.
