Jesse Love opened up about a hilarious experience from his NASCAR spotting in Chicago. The Xfinity Series driver spotted for Austin Hill at the recently concluded Cup Series race Grant Park 165 at the Chicago Street Course and it was an experience worth remembering.
Love and Hill race in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for Richard Childress Racing. The former drives the #2 Chevrolet Camaro, while the latter drives the #21 Camaro. Hill also takes up the drive of the #33 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in the Cup Series for RCR.
Love shared his part-time spotting experience on the Door Bumper Clear podcast by Dirty Mo Media, and his words led to the hosts Brett Griffin, Freddie Kraft, Connor Zilisch, and Casey Boat all bursting into laughter.
"So I spotted, for context, at Chicago for Austin Hill, and it was honestly pretty hard," Love said. "When you talk on the radio, you key up, you hear yourself talking in the radio but it was delayed like half a second."
"I'm talking and I'm waiting for my words that I'm speaking to catch up to what I'm hearing. So we start talking and I'll be like ... and again I'm like...I start talking really really slow, and be like five back and ... you couldn't f***ing talk."
Following Love's revelation, Griffin added his input on the latter's spotting. He stated that Love asked him how he sounded. To which, Griffin said he replied, "you sound like sh*t."
Jesse Love emphasized Austin Hill, Kyle Busch, and Austin Dillon's teamwork at RCR
Jesse Love could not have asked for a better debut on his Xfinity Series journey when he took pole position at Daytona earlier this year. Driving for Richard Childress Racing, Love has been largely impressive, and he lauded RCR's teamwork between its drivers.
Love's promotion from ARCA Menards Series to Truck Series and then Xfinity Series has been rapid. It's his first season racing for RCR, and he did not find any difficulties working with his teammates Kyle Busch, Austin Dillon, and Austin Hill.
“At RCR, there’s three really good teammates that are really willing to help each other out and give you honest feedback,” Love said. "(Austin has) been 19 years old. So he has all this experience I don’t have that I can ask him and Kyle (Busch) and Austin (Dillon)."
Jesse Love is currently seventh in the regular season standings with 587 points. He has picked up one win, five top 5s, nine top 10s, and faced one DNF, so far tthis season.
