Corey LaJoie, who has been associated with Spire Motorsports since the 2021 season, announced last week that he will not return to the #7 Chevrolet in 2025.

Reflecting on leaving Spire Motorsports, the 32-year-old has expressed a range of emotions he has experienced. He also appreciated the support and belief he received from team owners (Jeff Dickerson and T.J. Puchyr) in his career. On the “Stacking Pennies” podcast, LaJoie said:

“You go through all the emotions. Mad, sad. It's natural human tendency to go into, like, the victim, wo was me mindset. But, I think where I'm at currently a week removed is that I'm super appreciative.

The 32-year-old North Carolina native has played a crucial role in the team's development and success, securing four top-five and top-10 finishes.

“They didn't really give me a whole lot of reasons”: Corey LaJoie on losing his NASCAR seat

Despite signing a multi-year contract extension last year with LaJoie and a thought of hiring veteran crew chief Rodney Childers to the #7 Chevy for the 2025 season, the team shocked everyone with their announcement.

In the aforementioned podcast, LaJoie revealed that he didn’t get much clarity about the reason behind not going with him next season.

“I got fired on Wednesday. They didn't really give me a whole lot of reasons, but I don't want to get too much into it,” said LaJoie.

Corey LaJoie has raced for various teams in Cup Series but never had a contract of more than one or two seasons with any team. Reflecting on his career and the nature of his contracts, LaJoie said:

“I had some realizations. Normally, uh, I've never found myself in this position.
"Everywhere that I've been have has always been one-year deals. So, this position that I find myself in currently isn't, like, uncomfortable. It’s not some place that I’ve never been before.”

With four races remaining in the regular season, Corey LaJoie is behind the playoff cut-off line, sitting 28th in the Cup Series points table. In his nine-year-long career, he's still looking for his first NASCAR win.
