NASCAR driver Carson Hocevar took to the video game iRacing as he enjoyed the holiday season. With the off-season underway, the Spire Motorsport driver decided to spend his time playing the racing simulation game. However, it wasn’t all that relaxing for Hocevar as he got into a squabble with another player, which led to an exchange of words.
B/R Racing’s (Bleacher Report’s motorsport handle) Instagram account uploaded a video of Hocevar racing in iRacing. The Spire Motorsport driver seemed to be racing in the older generation NASCAR Cup Series car.
The other player aggressively turned left into Hocevar’s car in an attempt to block him as the two entered a corner. The NASCAR driver questioned the other player on the online voice chat:
“What are you doing?”
“You do that a lot in real life too I guess,” replied the player who turned into Hocevar.
“I don’t know why you just turned left on a straightaway. You’re a dumba**,” said Carson Hocevar.
“You’ll run Spire out of money in a couple of years anyway. Seem to hit a lot of guys on accident the cup side too,” responded the other player.
After the race ended, the NASCAR driver decided to end the squabbling by asking the other players to watch him on TV. He messaged in the game chat:
“Have a great day, John! Enjoy watching the next decade on Sunday.”
“Yeah, you’ll be out the Cup Series in a couple of years anyways,” replied the player.
2023 was Carson Hocevar’s debut season in the NASCAR Cup Series as he raced part-time for Spire Motorsports and Legacy Motor Club. He got his debut full-time driver role in 2024 with Spire and finished the season 24th in the championship. He scored six top 10 finishes during the season and a Watkins Glen podium.
Zeigler Auto Group returns as sponsor for Carson Hocevar
Zeigler Auto Group, one of the largest automotive dealer groups in the US, will continue to sponsor Carson Hocevar’s #28 Chevrolet for the 2024 season. The group will be sponsoring the Spire Motorsport entry for eight races of the season, including the Daytona 500.
Speaking about the partnership, Hocevar said (via Spire-Motorsport.com):
“I’m excited to continue our partnership with Zeigler Automotive Group after a successful rookie season. They’ve been such a great support group since day one for me and the No. 77 team. I’m looking forward to continuing to build our partnership on and off the track and can’t wait to take the Zeigler Chevrolet to Victory Lane.”
Hocevar ran the yellow and black Zeigler Auto Group livery in 2024, with the 2025 livery having minor changes to the design. The 21-year-old was awarded the Rookie of the Season award for the 2024 Cup Series season.
