Corey Lajoie decided to hit back at fans after the Spire Motorsports driver faced backlash following his collision with Kyle Busch at Pocono Raceway. Lajoie triggered a wreck that sent Busch spinning and ruined his race.
With his move at The Great American Getaway 400 Presented by VisitPA.com in Long Pond, Lajoie has become the latest driver to take the #8 driver out after he tagged the latter's #8 Chevrolet from behind. The RCR driver has already been on the other side of luck this season, and Lajoie added salt to his wounds.
Following his on-track action, Corey Lajoie was subjected to massive trolls on the internet. From "LaJoke" to 'winless' driver at NASCAR National level, the trolls were aplenty. However, he did not lose his mind after coming across them, and hit back.
"What are people gonna tell me that I haven't heard before?" asked Lajoie in the Stacking Pennies podcast. "You suck, you've never won, did Corey wreck? Yes. I actually never wrecked last week. Get some new material guys."
"You're gonna talk sh*t stacking wrecks, heard that, stacking cautions, get some new material. I've heard all that stuff," added the #7 driver.
Busch is currently struggling in 18th place with 440 points, 112 points behind the playoffs cut-off, and Lajoie's action surely added to the woes.
Kyle Busch responds with a "payback" threat to Corey Lajoie
Kyle Busch's wretched run of form continued in 2024 as he faced five wrecks in the last seven races. So much so that he admitted to losing faith in his fellow drivers.
"I don't have faith in anybody because I've been wrecked in five out of the last seven races by somebody. Our cars haven't been that great lately but we're working on it." Busch told Pat McAfee.
However, he did not forget what happened with Corey Lajoie as he fired a "payback" warning.
"He (LaJoie) texted me, and then he called me,” Busch said. “I didn’t even reach back out because he changed his story four times, so I’m like, you’re just a liar. You wrecked me. Like, I get it. It’s fine, whatever. Payback’s coming."
Kyle Busch's current regular season position places him in the danger zone. He is yet to score a win this season, and most importantly, he is yet to win a race since 2023 Enjoy Illinois 300 at Getaway.
The RCR driver had only two top 5s, and six top 10s, combined with five wrecks in 22 races. Despite claiming one pole position, Busch's average starting position was 18th, and the average finishing position was over 19.6.
